Centered on the reality that our planet is getting warmer, CityDance Ensemble’s concert Warmer invites choreographers to tackle the question of global warming and the impact that art will have on this issue.

Inspired by "Thracian Wedding" a 1960's dance production and film created by Philip Koutev, renowned composer, conductor and director of Bulgaria's Koutev Ensemble, "First Love" recalls village life through beautiful staging, dazzling costumes, and a juicy story line—something new to Ethnic Dance Theatre (EDT) performances, on April 18, at 8pm and April 20, at 2pm.

Returning to The Place from 27 March until 17 May, Spring Loaded is a renowned showcase for some of the most refreshing artists choreographing in the UK. At the culmination of its 25 th Anniversary, Dance/USA announces the selection of dancer and ballet master Frederic Franklin to receive the Dance/USA Honor and dance writer and scholar Anna Kisselgoff to receive the Ernie, named for the late Ian "Ernie" Horvath. The awards will be presented at the Dance/USA Honors Celebration Dinner, Wednesday, June 11, 2008 in Denver, Colorado.

New York based company Decadancetheatre bring their unique hip-hop ballet Firebird to the Playhouse, a stunning fusion of urban dance moves with classical ballet based on Igor Stravinsky's ballet of 1910. Presented as part of LEAP 08, Merseyside Dance Initiative's annual dance festival, Firebird runs from Thursday 13 to Friday 14 March at the Playhouse.
