Denver Museum Acquires Thomas Eakins Painting

The Denver Art Museum announced the joint acquisition of Cowboy Singing, an 1892 painting by renowned American painter Thomas Eakins. The Museum is partnering with the Denver-based Anschutz Collection to purchase the work from the Philadelphia Museum of Art. In addition to Cowboy Singing, the DAM will independently acquire two sketches related to Eakins' 1888 painting Cowboys in the Badlands. The three new works will be on view at the Denver Art Museum immediately.

Colorado Tornado Hits Windsor, N. of Denver

Two tornadoes struck just north of Denver, Colorado on Thursday killing at least one person, destroying several homes and buildings and knocking out power to more than 20,000 customers. Interestingly Colorado tornado did not damage churches according to news reports, while causing detestation North of Denver and in Windsor.

Denver Museum Celebrates Extraordinary Quilts Of Gee's Bend

Following the popular and successful exhibitions of stunningly original quilts designed by the women of Gee's Bend, Alabama, the Denver Art Museum (DAM) will host its sequel, Gee's Bend: The Architecture of the Quilt, April 13 through July 6, 2008.
