Denver Art Museum adds to its exciting exhibition lineup when George Carlson: Heart of the West opens December 15 in the Hamilton Building’s Dietler Western Art Galleries. The exhibition will feature the work of living artist and former Coloradoan George Carlson, considered one of the finest sculptors of western subject matter working today.

On November 30 from 6 to 10 p.m., Denver’s art-lovers are invited to immerse themselves in Denver Art Museum’s colorful collections and newest exhibition, Color as Field: American Painting, 1950-1975. Ready to “paint the town red,” guests will enjoy an event-filled evening at the Museum’s tenth Untitled final-Friday affair.

The Denver Art Museum will host the national debut of Color as Field: American Painting, 1950-1975, on view November 9, 2007 through February 3, 2008. Organized by the American Federation of Arts, this is the largest exhibition of major color field works ever exhibited in the region.

On October 26 from 6-10 p.m., Denver’s posh partiers are invited to experience the extravagance of French royalty and over-the-top art assortments at Untitled #9 (Deluxe). Dressed to impress in their stately attire, royal revelers will be tempted by lavish festivities and the Denver Art Museum’s most deluxe collections during the Museum’s ninth Untitled final-Friday event.

The Denver Art Museum will open Artisans & Kings: Selected Treasures from the Louvre one night early on Friday, October 5, from 5 to 10 p.m. to kick off the first annual Denver Arts Week, sponsored by the Denver Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau.

On September 28 from 6-10 p.m., Denver's culture vultures are invited to find out what happens when traditions, materials and identities fuse at Untitled #8 (Hybrid). Art novices and art experts alike will enjoy this collision of ideas at the Museum's eighth Untitled final-Friday event.

The Denver Art Museum today announced that Denver resident Tom Petrie will donate $5 million dollars to endow the Museum’s Institute of Western American Art. Additionally, he has agreed to a long-term loan of pieces from his comprehensive collection of works by Western artist Charles M. Russell for display at the Museum.

Denver Art Museum presents cinema’s fall 2007 film series ‘France in a Time of Kings’, opening on Fridays, September 14 and running through October 26.

On Saturday, September 8, 2007, from 10 a.m. to 5 pm., the Denver Art Museum will host the 18th Annual Friendship Powwow, sponsored by Target. This free celebration of American Indian cultures has become a Denver tradition, featuring drum groups and American Indian dancers from the Denver area and the region.

Last inning for Capturing America’s Game: Photographs of Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig closes after Sunday, September 30, 2007 at Denver Art Museum.

The exhibition, drawn from the archives of noted baseball collector Marshall Fogel, showcases 17 vintage photographs as well as several important pieces of memorabilia, including bats used by both Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. The exhibition will be on view through September 30.
