This morning at 5:38am there was an Earthquake in Detroit, Michigan. While most of us were asleep (me included), Channel 955 staffers Mojo, Kyra, Producer Rachel & Rob the Web Guy were in the studio. All of a sudden we felt like we were swaying... We started calling around and found out that indeed there was an earthquake! 5.4 magnitude, centered around where Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky meet.

Altering the landscape of the summer classical music scene, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra's critically acclaimed, cutting-edge music festival 8 Days in June returns to the Max M. Fisher Music Center, June 13 through 21, 2008. The second annual festival will explore the theme "The Power of Change."

The Detroit Symphony Orchestra, led by legendary Russian conductor Gennady Rozhdestvensky, will perform the third concert of its "Great 9's" series, Franz Schubert's Symphony No. 9, the last weekend in February. Also known as "The Great," Schubert's final composition was one of length and majesty written in a burst of creative activity just prior to his death at age 31, and it is widely considered the height of his orchestral accomplishments.
