Considered one of the most operatic and beautiful ecclesiastical works of the classical canon, Giuseppe Verdi's monumental Requiem will be performed by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and the University Musical Society Choral Union as one of the highlights of the DSO's new 2007-08 classical season.

The Detroit Zoo’s annual “merry-not-scary” Zoo Boo celebration returns this Halloween season, featuring a festively decorated half-mile trick-or-treat trail through the front of the park. Presented by National City, Zoo Boo will be held on the evenings of October 19 to 21 and October 25 to 31 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., rain or shine.

The Detroit Zoo has always been a great place to discover wildlife, but now it’s also a great place to discover hidden treasure. The Zoo has joined the growing craze of geocaching by creating six caches, or hiding places, throughout the 125-acre park.

Changing leaves and cooler weather are sure signs of fall, and the Detroit Zoo is celebrating its arrival with the first-ever Fall Festival Saturday and Sunday, October 6 and 7.

The Max M. Fisher Music Center will do double duty as an art gallery, now through January 13, to be enjoyed by concertgoers, tour groups and others attending the facility's variety of events. Titled Artworks II, the exhibit is located on three levels of the atrium lobby and part of an ongoing collaboration between the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and the internationally acclaimed Cranbrook Academy of Art.

Setting out to prove that his soundtracks are equally dramatic, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra will perform a program titled "Hitchcock!" as part of the DTE Energy Foundation Pops Series, on Thursday, October 4 at 10:45 a.m. and 8 p.m.; Friday, October 5 at 8:30 p.m.; Saturday, October 6 at 8:30 p.m.; and Sunday, October 7 at 3 p.m. at the Max M. Fisher Music Center.

The Detroit Symphony Orchestra in cooperation with the Detroit Public Schools and WRCJ 90.9 FM, Detroit's only all classical and jazz radio station, have announced a new season of their jointly produced radio program "DSO Unmasked."

Detroit's major destination for spoken word performances, the Max M. Fisher Music Center launches a new season of poetry slams on Thursday, September 20 at 8 p.m. Held in The Music Box at The Max, Kalimah Johnson of PicNap Poetry returns as host of the six slams which are sponsored by Starbucks Coffee.
