Clearstream’s Activity Figures For August 2008

In August 2008, the value of assets under custody held on behalf of customers registered a 2.7 percent rise at € 10.9 trillion (compared to € 10.7 trillion from August 2007). Securities held under custody in Clearstream’s international business experienced a rise of 8 percent from € 4.9 to € 5.3 trillion and domestic German securities held under custody decreased by 2 percent from € 5.7 trillion to € 5.6 trillion.

Deutsche Börse Conducts Changes To Indices DivDAX, ÖkoDAX

On Friday, Deutsche Börse announced changes to its indices DivDAX and ÖkoDAX. Effective 22 September, new weights will apply in the German equity indices DAX, MDAX, SDAX and TecDAX, as well as in the strategy indices and the international indices of Deutsche Börse including ÖkoDAX and DivDAX.

Deutsche Börse Reviews Index Composition

On Wednesday, Deutsche Börse has decided on changes in its equity indices DAX, MDAX, SDAX and TecDAX that will take effect on 22 September. The share of K+S will be included in DAX and will replace TUI. The inclusion of K+S was triggered by the fast-entry rule. TUI will therefore leave the index.

Clearstream Banking SA has joined the EMX Message System as a consolidator and went live on 11th August 2008. Clearstream’s Vestima+ service for investment funds will be able to facilitate straight through processing of their offshore clients into the UK market place thanks to this link with the EMX Message System.

Trades Executed On Xetra In August

In August 2008, the number of trades executed on Xetra reached 13.8 million transactions – down 28 percent compared to August 2007 with 19.3 million trades. Order book turnover on Xetra recorded €127.3 billion (August 2007: €251.5 billion), down by 49 percent. The decrease in comparison with the same month last year is attributed to the beginning of the U.S. subprime that resulted in high volumes in August 2007.

Three New ETFs From ETFlab Launched On Xetra

Deutsche Börse is further expanding its segment for exchange-traded index funds on the pan-European Xetra® trading platform and has admitted three new ETFs issued by ETFlab to trading. The three new ETFs track the performance of the MSCI country indices for Japan and the USA and the MSCI regional index for Europe.

Eurex Clearing To Expand Service Offering In Cash Market

Starting November 2008, Eurex Clearing is to offer three different service packages for clearing of cash market transactions. As alternatives to the current comprehensive offering (to be called "Full Service" in the future), Eurex Clearing will also offer a "Basic Net Service" and an "Extended Net Service". In the "Basic Net Service", all transactions will be automatically netted at the end of the trading day with the clearing participant being informed about the remaining net position.

Eurex Admits First Local Broker From Singapore

The international derivatives exchange Eurex announced today that it admitted the first local broker from the Republic of Singapore. UOB Bullion and Futures Limited, a subsidiary of Singapore-based United Overseas Bank Limited, was connected on 18 August 2008 to the Singapore Access Point of Eurex.
