Deutsche Börse Achieves Best Quarter Ever In Q1/2008

Deutsche Börse achieved its best quarter ever in the first three months of financial year 2008. At €644.5 million, sales revenues were up by 19 percent on Q1/2007 (€543.1 million) reflecting record trading volumes and the full consolidation of the International Securities Exchange (ISE). A further €64.3 million was generated from net interest income from banking business (Q1/2007: €46.1 million).

Clearstream Activity Figures For April 2008

In April 2008, the value of assets under custody on behalf of customers rose to € 10.7 trillion, a 4 percent rise from April 2007 (€ 10.2 trillion). Securities held under custody in Clearstream’s international business experienced a rise of 6 percent from € 4.6 to € 4.9 trillion and domestic German securities held under custody rose by 3 percent from € 5.6 trillion to € 5.8 trillion.

Eurex To Launch Futures On MSCI Russia Index

The international derivatives exchange Eurex will be launching derivatives on the MSCI Russia Index denominated in US dollars as of 23 June 2008. This step extends the existing products on Russian underlyings which were introduced in April 2007. Further, Eurex will add another equity option on OJSC Rosneft as of the same date.

Eurex: Trading Volumes Up By 22% In April

Eurex, the international derivatives exchange, gained an 22 percent increase in turnover volume compared year-on-year to 185 million contracts (April 2007: 151 million contracts). The daily average turnover stood at 8.4 million contracts (April 2007: 8 million contracts). Open interest saw a rise of 13 percent to 141 million contracts per the end of March 2008.

Scoach Now Trading On Fully Electronic Platform Xetra

Scoach, the European exchange for certificates and warrants, has been offering trading in around 300,000 products on a new version of the fully electronic trading platform, Xetra, since Monday. This means that, with immediate effect, over 260 banks and brokerage firms – 100 of which are based abroad – have direct access to the world's broadest range of structured products. In the past, these products were traded on the trading floor of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

Xetra Trades Up By 34% In April

In April the number of trades executed on Xetra was up by 34.7 percent reaching more than 16 million transactions – compared to April 2007 with 12 million trades. Orderbook turnover on Xetra slightly decreased by 1.5 percent year-on-year to €166.5 billion (April 2007: €169.1 billion). On Xetra and the Frankfurt floor €163 billion were turned over in German equities and €8.1 billion in foreign shares.

Deutsche Börse Europe's Market Leader In ETF Trading

Deutsche Börse is still European market leader in trading exchange traded funds (ETFs) in the first quarter of 2008. The XTF segment achieved a turnover volume of €31.9 billion in the first three months of 2008 and thus recorded the largest trading volume of all European ETF marketplaces, followed by NYSE Euronext, Borsa Italiana and the London Stock Exchange.
