Deutsche Börse launched the new ShortDAX® strategy index on Tuesday, further expanding its offering in the DAXplus® index family. The performance of the ShortDAX is directly opposed to that of the DAX® index, i.e. if the DAX rises by 5 percent, the ShortDAX falls by 5 percent, and vice versa. This makes Deutsche Börse the first index provider in Europe to develop an effective short strategy in the form of an index.

Deutsche Börse AG concluded financial year 2006 with the best result in its history. According to the preliminary figures published by the company on Wednesday, sales revenue climbed by 14 percent to €1,854.2 million in 2006 (2005: €1,631.5 million). The company earned a further €150.7 million in net interest income from banking business (2005: €112.7 million).

Deutsche Börse is making further technical improvements to Xetra trading. The measures are aimed at algorithmic trading, where computers evaluate trading signals and place buy and sell orders in the system. These adjustments will allow Deutsche Börse to reduce the access times by more than 50 percent from April onwards.

The transaction puts the value of BSE of Rs 3,777 crore (USD 854 million).

Deutsche Börse and the China Securities Index Company (CSI), a joint venture between the Shanghai Stock Exchange and the Shenzhen Stock Exchange, want to cooperate in the index business. Both partners signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Monday in Shanghai. The cooperation is aimed firstly at the provision of mutual support with respect to the distribution of existing indices, and secondly at the joint development of index products.

Deutsche Börse added a new member to the DAXglobal® index family on Monday: DAXglobal Asia. It bundles the 40 largest and most liquid stocks from the Asian region (excluding Japan). The index constituents originate from China (30 percent), South Korea (19.2 percent), India (18.9 percent), Taiwan (8.4 percent), Indonesia (6.7 percent), Hong Kong (4.3 percent), Thailand (4.1 percent), Malaysia (3.2 percent), Singapore (2.8 percent) and Philippines (2.4 percent).

The Lyxor ETF DJ STOXX Select Dividend 30 (ISIN FR0010378604) is based on the DJ STOXX 600 Index which comprises the largest companies from 18 European countries.
