Researchers study dog DNA by isolating a single gene common to all small dogs which is expected to give clues to diverse sizes of dog breeds.

From the smallest Chihuahua to the largest Great Dane, dogs dramatically vary in size, much more than most other animals. Now scientists have discovered a genetic basis for this diversity. The reason different dog breeds have so many sizes may be explained by the new researche based on 3,200 dog DNA samples.
