A magnitude 6.1 earthquake struck an island off the coast of Indonesia's Jawa Barat province this morning. The quake was strong enough to shake buildings in Indonesia's capital, Jakarta, about 120 miles to the east-northeast.

Indonesia, already the victim of a powerful earthquake, has been struck by another. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) says a 6.8-magnitude struck at 08:52 AM local time Thursday on Sumatra island, about 180 miles from the epicenter of a more powerful quake which occurred on Wednesday.
