Private insurers can send information to seniors

On Friday, U.S. health officials announced that information on health-related issues can be sent to seniors from their private health insurance providers, as long as the members were allowed to opt out of receiving the communications. The announcement has led to the closing of the investigation into Humana, a major insurance company that was allegedly trying to scare seniors with a mailer claiming that, under Obama's health care reform plan, the members would lose important health benefits.
