For Capital of Culture Year, the Everyman continues its reputation for producing powerful and moving new writing with a world premiere by Esther Wilson, one of the writers of the award-winning Unprotected. TEN TINY TOES is an uncompromising and heartbreaking story of mothers and families and what happens when a distant war comes home. Directed by Polly Teale (Shared Experience) this potent new play is at the Liverpool Everyman through Saturday 5 July 2008.

For Liverpool's Capital of Culture Year, Everyman and Playhouse Artistic Director Gemma Bodinetz directs Molière's famous 17th century French comedy Tartuffe, in a specially commissioned new adaptation by 'Liverpool's Poet Laureate' Roger McGough.

Hot on the heels of the sell-out success 3 Sisters On Hope Street, the theatres' second in-house production for Liverpool's Capital of Culture Year sees Everyman alumnus Matthew Kelly return with his son Matthew Rixon, to play 'Hamm' and 'Clov' in a new production of Samuel Beckett's absurdist play, Endgame.

Keep your family entertained this Easter at both the Everyman and Playhouse with two shows for all ages, shapes and sizes! From Tuesday 18 to Saturday 22 March the much loved classic children's tale Charlotte's Web brings Wilbur the pig and his farmyard friends to the Playhouse while, from Tuesday 25 to Saturday 29 March, Hoipolloi Theatre Company bring their fantastical adaptation of Edward Gorey's illustrated story The Doubtful Guest to the Everyman.

New York based company Decadancetheatre bring their unique hip-hop ballet Firebird to the Playhouse, a stunning fusion of urban dance moves with classical ballet based on Igor Stravinsky's ballet of 1910. Presented as part of LEAP 08, Merseyside Dance Initiative's annual dance festival, Firebird runs from Thursday 13 to Friday 14 March at the Playhouse.

Franz Kafka's eerie and fantastical Metamorphosis launches the Capital of Culture year at the Playhouse in a spine-tingling production that combines astonishing aerial physicality and a gravity-defying set with a mesmerising original score by world-renowned musician and lyricist NickCave, and long time collaborator Warren Ellis. Metamorphosis runs from Tuesday 5 to Saturday 9 February at the Playhouse.

The latest play from David Edgar, one of Britain's greatest contemporary playwrights, arrives at the Playhouse this February in the hands of regular visitors Out of Joint Theatre Company.

Tim Firth's unique comedy sees the kids of Flint St primary school bring a festive repeat of the world's greatest story ever told. Back by popular demand are the psychotic innkeeper, an angel in fear, a know-it-all Mary and a donkey whose lost his stick insect. All trying desperately to remember the words to all the carols and keep their parents and teacher Mrs Horrocks happy.

As part of the theatres’ commitment to nurturing the next generation of theatre-goers, Watershed Theatre return to the Playhouse following their highly successful tour of Jacqueline Wilson’s Midnight in 2005. This time they have joined forces with The Orange Tree Theatre to bring us Jacqueline’s funny and touching The Suitcase Kid, adapted and directed by Vicky Ireland. The Suitcase Kid runs from Wednesday 14 to Saturday 17 November.
