Five years ago, Connie Culp was shot in the face by her husband, which left her horribly disfigured. In December of 2008, she became the first face tranplant recipient in the U.S. Until Tuesday, she hadn't shown the results of the operation by the Cleveland Clinic, but today she emerged and spoke to the press.

On Tuesday, the Cleveland Clinic announced the U.S.'s first face transplant. 80% of an unnamed woman’s face was replaced with that of a donor in the nation’s first near-total face transplant. On Wednesday they presented a Q&A press release.
