On Tuesday the Albany Firebirds of the arenafootball2 league announced they wanted to offer Michael Vick a contract for the remainder of the season. This was obviously some sort of PR stunt (more on that later), but the press release read:

Despite questions not over his raw talent, but over consistency and the intangibles it takes to be a great QB, the Detroit Lions signed Georgia QA Matthew Stafford before the NFL draft on Friday night. The Lions will formally take Stafford with the No. 1 pick in the draft Saturday.
