The benchmark Sensex on Monday tumbled by 769 points on fears foreign investment will slow down in the wake of rising inflation in the US that will limit interest rate cuts.

IBM's (NYSE: IBM) annual study of countries receiving investment from multinational companies in the area of manufacturing, services and R&D reveals that the U.S., which increased its share of inward investment projects from 7 percent in 2005 to 11 percent in 2006, was the top ranking destination country for inward investment projects.

U.S. President George W. Bush signed Thursday a law toughening control over foreign investment in key businesses in a move to address national security concerns, and avoid foreign governments gaining control of U.S. firms.

Foreign investments in the Armenian economy in the first quarter of 2007 rose 44.6 percent from a year ago to $136.6 million. This figure did not include money received by the government and the Central Bank from external sources.
