ISE Expands FX Options Offering With New Currency Pairs

ISE International Securities Exchange: The International Securities Exchange (ISE) today announced the launch of two new ISE FX OptionsSM currency pairs. Options on the U.S. dollar/Australian dollar (Symbol: AUX) and the U.S. Dollar/Swiss franc (Symbol: SFC) will begin trading on February 21. Timber Hill LLC will serve as Primary Market Maker for these new products.

Clearstream’s Activity Figures For January 2008

In January 2.91 million international transactions were processed, a slight decrease of 1 percent over January 2007 (2.95 million). Of these transactions, 64 percent were Over the Counter (OTC) transactions and 36 percent were registered as stock exchange transactions.

Eurex Futures On DJ STOXX Approved

The U.S. regulatory agency, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), has approved trading in additional Eurex products for the U.S. market effective immediately. The approval comprises the futures on the Dow Jones STOXX Large 200 Index and Dow Jones STOXX Small 200 Index as well as six Dow Jones STOXX 600 sector indexes.

Deutsche Bank ETFs Launched On Xetra

Deutsche Börse is further expanding its XTF segment for exchange-traded funds (ETFs) on the Xetra trading platform. Thirteen new funds issued by db x-trackers, a subsidiary of Deutsche Bank, have been tradable since Thursday.

EEX, Eurex Launch CER Futures

European Energy Exchange AG (EEX) and the derivatives exchange Eurex are expanding their cooperation in CO2 trading. As of 26 March 2008, it will be possible to trade in futures on CERs (Certified Emission Reductions), global emission credits in accordance with the Kyoto Protocol, on the EEX. To incentivise trading, trading fees (exchange trading and OTC-registry) will be waived for the entire year 2008.

Clearstream Gets Approval For Highest Operational Risk Measurements

Clearstream has been granted approval by Luxembourg’s regulator, the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF) to start using the Advanced Measurement Approach (AMA) for the calculation of its own funds requirements for operational risk, making it the first International Central Securities Depository to receive such an agreement.

Eurex Lowers Clearing Fees For Cash Market Transactions

Eurex Clearing is to lower the fixed clearing fees for equity transactions on Xetra and the floor of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 25 percent to €0.30 per order with effect from 1 April. The volume-dependent clearing fee remains unchanged at 0.0015 percent of the order value. The maximum fee per order is to be reduced accordingly by €0.10 to €6.00.

Xetra Announces 65 Percent Turnover Rise

In January €307 billion were turned over on Xetra and on the floor of Börse Frankfurt – a rise of 61 percent year-on-year (January 2007: €191,1 billion). Thereof €292,7 billion were traded on Xetra gaining 65 percent year-on-year (January 2007: €176.6 billion) and €15 billion on the floor (January 2007: €14.4 billion).

Eurex Announces New Trading Records

The international derivatives exchange Eurex saw new trading records earlier this week: on 22 January, turnover reached a new record with roughly 17 million contracts, the previous record was 15.5 million contracts (achieved on 6 June 2007). On 23 January, another 15.3 million contracts were traded.

FWB, Eurex Exchange Councils Elect Chairmen

The Exchange Council of Eurex Deutschland and the Exchange Council of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange (Frankfurter Wertpapierbörse – FWB) were reconstituted on 18 January 2008. The current members of both Exchange Councils were elected on 21 November 2007. Each council consists of 18 members elected for a period of three years.
