Who the heck is Heath Slocum? That wouldn't be a question I could fault you for. Perhaps now, the name will stick in your mind. Slocum skyrocketed from 124th on the FedEx Cup points list to third behind Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker with a win in The Barclays on Sunday.

Today at the Liberty National Golf Course kicked off Barclays Golf Tournament 2009.

High fives, fist pumps, a rowdy home-town crowd and double butt slaps. No, this is not an NFL game, it’s the 11th Solheim Cup being held here on U.S. soil. After 16 matches over the last two days, the score is tied, dead even at eight points apiece. On Friday afternoon a sigh of relief happened around the Liberty National Golf Club when the number one ranked golf player, Tiger Woods, committed to playing in The Barclays next week. Woods decided not to attend the tournament in 2007 and missed the 2008 tournament due to knee surgery.

Twelve of the best American female golfers will compete against their European rivals beginning today in what is called the Solheim Cup. This competition began back in 1990 and is held every two years, alternating home turf similar to the men’s Ryder Cup.

Round 3 of the PGA Championship was packed with expectation, excitement and surprise…well, maybe not a whole lot of surprise when you speculate as to at what was going on in the subconscious minds of those chasing the leader. The question is, who really, really wants to play with Tiger on Sunday?

It seems that after caputuring two PGA TOURs in a row Tiger Woods may now be ready for PGA Championship glory.
