Google had some problems this morning. It was slow, in some places Google was down and the outage was on and off. According to NY Times Google has already confirmed that there has been some outage this morning, but what may have caused it?

Launching later this month, the Wolfram Alpha project has been labeled with the familiar 'Google killer' tag. Described as a 'computational knowledge engine', the program has been the subject of much interest, while the details have remained shrouded in mystery, with access to previews restricted to a chosen few. So what exactly is it then?

Google (GOOG) announced its Q1 2009 results on Thursday, and for the first time ever, there has been a dip. Ouch! Revenue fell 3% for the quarter versus Q4 2008.

Google on Monday released a beta (what else?) of Google Sync for the iPhone, Windows Mobile and phones that support SyncML. BlackBerry users already had a version of Google Sync for their devices.

Google today announced the Latitude feature, an addition to its Google Mobile application, which will allow you to track the location of your friends. Previously you were able to track yourself, via the My Location feature added in late 2007.

Google Earth 5.0, including oceanographic data which some thought was a separate project named Google Ocean, was launched Monday at the California Academy Of Sciences in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. In attendance was Nobel Prize Winner and former Vice-President Al Gore.

Google apparently moved quickly to fix a major bug that was affecting the entire internet this morning and had many webmasters writing about it.

In mid-2008 I wrote that Google was working on a net neutrality detector. On Wednesday Google finally announced the previously unnamed initiative, now called Measurement Lab (M-Lab).
