The Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra, led by Maestro Stuart Malina, proudly announces its 2008-2009 performance schedule. The season titled Reaching New Heights features seven Masterworks concerts, the Capital Blue Cross Pops Series which will expand to four concerts in 2008-2009, as well as several special events, including the annual "Stuart & Friends" concert and the Harrisburg Symphony Society's Designer Showhouse and Gardens.

The Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra revisits the Golden Age of Television in the style of classic TV variety shows on April 26 and 27. Joined by the performing troupe Five By Design, Maestro Malina and the orchestra will delight audiences of all ages with lighthearted music from the 1950's and 60's. Songs will include Papa Loves Mambo, See the USA in Your Chevrolet, and The Girl From Ipanema.

Join the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra March 8 and 9 for the season's fifth Masterworks concert, It's All About Rhythm! Energy and tension will fill the air as Maestro Stuart Malina and the Orchestra perform pulse-pounding showpieces by Walton, Higdon, Ravel and Rimsky-Korsakov. The concert will be held at the Forum in Harrisburg. Selections will include:

Binienda is the teen pianist who won the Grand Prize in the Rising Stars Concerto Competition hosted last year by the Harrisburg Symphony and Messiah College The Harrisburg Symphony presents “Catch A Rising Star” featuring works by Sibelius, Bartok, and Chopin’s “Piano Concerto No. 1” performed by teen pianist Konrad Binienda, Grand Prize Champion of the 2006 Rising Stars Concerto Competition hosted by the HSO and Messiah College.

Join the Harrisburg Symphony for the start of a season "in perfect harmony" as the orchestra performs works from three classical masters including Tchaikovsky's "Symphony No. 2," Dvořák's "Violin Concerto," and Wagner's "Overture to Tannhäuser." The "Heroes of the Old World" concert will be performed on Oct. 6 and 7 at the Forum in Harrisburg.

Stroll through the excitement of downtown Harrisburg’s Second Street Row while helping the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra’s education programs. The Symphony Stroll features refreshments and live music at Café Fresco, Scott’s Grille, and the Hilton Harrisburg and Towers from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 25.
