Two free screenings of award-winning films from Brazil have been added to the October film calendar at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.

The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, offers free admission all day, 12:15-7 p.m., the first Sunday of each month, courtesy of support from Target. As part of Target Free First Sundays, the museum´s education department plans an array of art activities, performances, films, and refreshments from 1 to 5 p.m. designed to give families an interactive introduction to the museum and current exhibitions.

Theresa Rebeck (author of the Alley's outstanding success Bad Dates) returns with her latest, The Scene. The Scene is a provocative comedy about the pitfalls and shallowness of the entertainment industry, an industry where who you know and what party you attend is most important. The Scene is directed by Hartford Stage Associate Director Jeremy B. Cohen and begins previews Friday, October 25, opens officially Wednesday, October 31 and runs through November 25.

The Alley Theatre welcomes the return of veteran theatre and screen actress Dixie Carter (last seen in the Alley's world premiere of Be My Baby) as Abby Brewster in Joseph Kesselring's Arsenic and Old Lace. Playing her sister Martha Brewster is Tony nominated Mia Dillon. Carter and Dillon join the Alley Theatre Company of Actors in this classic screwball comedy.

Houston Grand Opera, in partnership with Kim Son Restaurant and the Vietnamese Culture and Science Association will perform at Kim Son Restaurant, on Sunday, October 28, 2007, at 3:00 p.m.

Houston Grand Opera, in partnership with Jewish Community Center of Houston and Anti-Defamation League, Southwest Region will present a concert on Sunday, October 14, 2007, at 8:00 p.m.

Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) is thrilled to announce that the sixth annual Tommy Tune Awards will include 43 high schools from the Greater Houston area. Developed by TUTS in 2002, the Tommy Tune Awards honors musical theatre excellence at the high school level.
