The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, has announced the acquisition of the world-renowned Adolpho Leirner Collection of Brazilian Constructive Art. The collection, which consists of the finest examples of geometric abstraction in paintings, constructions, drawings, posters, and graphic materials by Brazil´s foremost artists of the post-World War II era, has long been regarded as a brilliant window into the seminal decades of Brazil´s modernization.

War and Remembrance, an installation of images recently acquired for the Houston Museum’s permanent collection, includes the earliest known print of one of the most famous war photographs of all time: the raising of the American flag on Iwo Jima by five Marines and one Navy Corpsman on February 23, 1945.

John Alexander: A Retrospective covers a span of thirty years of the artist´s career, and includes approximately one hundred works from the late-1970s to the present. The exhibition will be on view from April 13 to June 22, 2008, at Museum Of Fine Arts, Houston.

Casting is complete for the Alley Theatre's production of Joseph Kesselring's classic screwball comedy, Arsenic and Old Lace. The production will welcome the return of veteran theatre and screen actress Dixie Carter (last seen in the Alley's world premiere of Be My Baby) as Abby Brewster.
