General Motors has divested itself of its Hummer brand, shipping off the brand to China, where much of U.S. manufacturing is anyway. The Humvee was once the gold standard for egregiously large SUVS, but it became tarnished as gas prices rose and the recession began.

The General Motors announced this afternoon that Chinese industrial giant Sichuan Tengzhong has entered into advanced talks with GM to buy Hummer. This gives much wanted relief to the business community in the auto industry as everyone were asking the question who bought Hummer, giving rise to many speculations.

No body knows who bought Hummer. General Motors sold Hummer to mystery buyer just one day after GM filed for bankruptcy.

Hunan Changfeng Motor Co is in talks with AM General LLC about a joint acquisition for Hummer brand, general manager of Changfeng Motor said.

General Motor’s HUMMER division and the nonprofit organization Tread Lightly!® announced today the launch of a new partnership called HUMMER’s Recreation Rescue, which will provide grants to outdoor recreation sites. The grants will be dedicated towards land use education, management and trail maintenance.
