Korea Exchange Bank (KEB) and IBM (NYSE: IBM) announced the completion of KEB's mainframe migration to IBM System z10 which will enable the bank's credit card business (KEB Card) to create an advanced and smarter IT environment to improve efficiency and customer service.

IBM announced that it is collaborating with Business Partners and universities to launch a jointly developed scholarship program for students focused on furthering mainframe education. The new program is designed to support increased demand in education and training in mainframe and large enterprise computing.

A new report by IT industry analyst Clabby Analytics says that "all of the new improvements that IBM is making in mainframe management may actually reduce the number of people needed to manage mainframes in the future as well as reduce the skills needed to manage mainframe environments."
