Filing day began today as hundreds of Illinois politicians lined up to to file for the February primary election and get a chance to be listed on the ballot. One of the more significant races is the 2010 Gubernatorial campaign, which will feature a host of well known Illinois leaders vying for the top executive spot.

Sen. Roland Burriss, the black sheep of the Senate because of his relationship with former and disgraced Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, appears to be a real player in the health care reform debate. The reason is that Burriss, one of the 60 Democrats needed to prevent a filibuster, has said he will not support a bill without a public option.

From the mid-1970s through the 1990s, M. Joan Lintault was known as the "weaving and fibers/textiles" person in the southern Illinois art community.
