Tough economic times often call for desperate, and sometimes criminal, measures as arson and theft car insurance fraud claims are on the rise in California. The number of fraudulent arson and theft car insurance claims has increased from 2007 to 2008 as many people are either purposely torching their vehicles and/or reporting them stolen in an effort to cash in on their car insurance and avoid making payments they can no longer afford.
