The U.S. space shuttle Endeavour has docked with the International Space Station (ISS), Mission Control said Friday. The docking was delayed more than 10 minutes as the astronauts were waiting for the shuttle to emerge from the Earth's shadow for the docking unit to be illuminated by the sun.

The U.S. Space Shuttle Endeavour has lifted off into space late Wednesday from Cape Canaveral, Florida and is heading towards the International Space Station for a construction mission. As Cindy Saine reports from Washington, the spotlight is on teacher-turned-astronaut Barbara Morgan.

The NASA space shuttle Endeavour will be launched to the International Space Station from Cape Canaveral at 6:36 p.m. local time (10:36 p.m. GMT) Wednesday, a NASA spokesman said.

The Progress M-61 cargo spacecraft carrying food, water, and fuel supplies for the crew, and equipment to repair onboard computers has automatically docked with the global orbital station, the mission control said.
