Faced with the slow, downward spiral in the market share of Internet Explorer, Microsoft will launch its latest version of the browser, Internet Explorer 8 on Thursday.

As expected, on Monday, January 26th, Microsoft made the first release candidate version (RC1) for Internet Explorer 8 available to the public. You have to know where to go to find it, however, due to some site updating issues.

Following its investigation of Opera Software ASA’s antitrust complaint, the European Commission confirmed on saturday that it sent Microsoft a Statement of Objections yesterday, accusing it of illegally tying Internet Explorer to the Windows PC operating system.
