CNN on Tuesday announced an iPhone app, one that will actually charge users to get news from CNN. However, CNN is smart enough to realize that the best model for iPhone apps is a small fee upfront, so they're charging just a one-time $1.99 fee.

You'd think the guy had been missing for some time or something. Wednesday's Apple event, which was billed as the typical annual music-focus Apple event, covered a lot more than just that, as well as re-introducing a certain CEO to the audience.

As if we needed any more evidence that today's Apple event will include the announcement of 3rd-generation iPod touch today, September 9th, 2009, Best Buy has provided it, in the form of accidentally leaking 3rd generation iPod touch accessories.

Admitting what was obvious to all, Apple on Thursday acknowledged an obvious mistake: allowing an app called the "Baby Shaker" into the App Store.

However, on Monday, Apple detailed the upcoming iPhone OS 3.0 software, with Scott Forstall, Senior VP of iPhone Software to give us a preview.

On Thursday, Apple sent out invitations to a Tuesday, March 17, 10 AM PDT special event in Cupertino to discuss the iPhone 3.0 OS and a new SDK. The invitation doesn't mention new hardware, just new software. Perhaps this means I will be spared the temptation to buy a new iPhone this year. My wallet hopes.

When Amazon.com announced the Kindle 2, they also announced Whispersync, which they quite pointedly said would work with Kindle, Kindle 2 and future mobile devices. That hinted at already-rumored Kindle e-reader software for mobile devices, and that promise came to fruition on early Wednesday morning, when Amazon.com released an app for --- what else --- the iPhone.

Let me start by saying I love how Apple does these events and announcements. The hype generated is nothing but excellent publicity for Apple. It’s almost like they are reinventing the wheel every time they do an event like this or make an announcement about new iPod or so. We all patiently await the newest iSomething to be bestowed upon us. It doesn’t sound a little cheesy, but it’s true.

Computer giant Apple expands the capacity of its widely popular iPhone and iPod Touch. The new model will cost the additional $100. The traditional iPhone is available on the market with the capacity of g gigabytes for $399. Now it comes with 16 gigabytes for $499.
