With less than six weeks until the general election, a University of Pennsylvania study analyzing the relative optimism of the 2008 presidential and vice presidential candidates has found Barack Obama and John McCain to be equally optimistic and Sarah Palin slightly more optimistic than Joseph Biden.

The majority of the viewers believe that Barack Obama is the winner of the debate wth the John McCain.

Earlier this week, John McCain said he was suspending his campaign, and asked Demmocratic rival Barack Obama if they could delay tonight's previously scheduled debate, the first in their series of debates.

John McCain says he has suspended his campaign and plans to return to Washington to work on legislation aimed at the financial crisis engulfing Wall Street. At the same time, McCain has asked that the debate scheduled for Friday between himself and Democratic candidate Barack Obama be postponed.

In a major shift in the polls, Barack Obama has brought Democrats home, and now leads McCain by a clear majority. If borne out by other surveys, this will represent a tectonic shift in the electorate. According to this new poll, Obama has done something Gore and Kerry could not... reach 50% in a pre-election poll.
