HBO is set to air a Mormon Endowment Ceremony in its upcoming episode of Big Love. The church of Latter-day Saints has reacted in a statement and HBO has said that airing the endowment ceremony is vital part of the show and apologized if it has offended anyone.

U.S. Bishops offer support to Mormons targeted for defending marriage, backing California's Proposition Eight.

More than 1,000 protesters showed up to demonstrate in front of the Los Angeles temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Friday, November 7, to protest the church's involvement with the passing of Proposition 8, an amendment to the California constitution banning gay marriages (which were recently made legal by a court order). Protesters have claimed that the church as an institution made small cash donations to the Proposition 8 campaign.

The policemen in Texas have arrested more than 200 members of the Fundamentalist Church of the Latter Day Saints, a breakaway group of the Mormon church. Adherents of the breakaway church practice polygamy, which is in violation of US law.

President Gordon B. Hinckley, who led The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints through twelve years of global expansion, has died at the age of 97.

President James E. Faust, second counselor in the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, died at his home early this morning surrounded by his family.
