Samsung Electronics on Monday announced what will be the world's thinnest LCD television, thinner still than their existing Bordeaux 850. The announcement was made just prior to the start of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) which runs later this week.

This 17-in. LCD integrated multifunction touchmonitor is designed for POS applications.

Sharp Corporation and Toshiba Corporation announced that the two companies have agreed to collaborate closely in LCDs, a move that is expected to enhance the companies' corporate value, profitability and global competitiveness. The alliance will allow each company to make full and effective use of its respective strengths and resources, particularly Sharp's capabilities in LCDs and Toshiba's expertise in advanced semiconductors.

A new version of the Vantage HD high definition video scaler/processor from Calibre UK, Ltd. features updated algorithms for 1080p24, expanded Blu-ray™ disc player compatibility. The "coolest" feature is an advanced passive cooling device that eliminates system fan noise. The new VantageHD2 processor will be available beginning September 2007 for an MSRP of $3299.
