In order to offer the best services and collections to the Penn State community, the University Libraries are asking library users to provide their opinions on library collections, services and facilities across all Penn State campuses.

Penn State's University Libraries have recently acquired the Charles L. Blockson Collection of African-Americana and the African Diaspora, an important assemblage of some 10,000 volumes relating to African-American, African, Latin American and Caribbean history and culture. The collection is housed in the new Charles L. Blockson Room, on the third floor of Pattee Library, west, and will be opened at 4:30 p.m. Friday, April 18.

Lancaster Library has won the Love Libraries Award 2007, beating off competition from four rivals in a public vote. The Award, run by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA), celebrates the work libraries do to inspire under-25s.

The Heritage Lottery Fund has given the Scottish Poetry Library (SPL) an award of £50,000 to acquire and develop an archive relating to Edwin Morgan, Scotland's National Poet. The announcement comes just in time for National Poetry Day on October 4 2007.

The Northern Territory Library in Australia has been awarded $1.24 million by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for the Library's work in remote communities.
