The thrill is back as bluesman B.B. King brings his B.B. King Blues Festival to the Hollywood Bowl Wednesday, September 5 at 8:00 p.m. Los Angeles receives this one-night-only performance as part of a nationwide tour that hits 16 U.S. cities with various artists on each stop. Opening the show for this leg of the tour is Sacred Steel disciple Robert Randolph and the Family Band, as well as retro-soul guitarist James Hunter, who makes his Hollywood Bowl debut with this performance.

British dance-pop duo Pet Shop Boys makes a special one-night-only stateside appearance at the Hollywood Bowl. The concert will take place on Thursday, September 27, at 7:30 pm. In the midst of a European tour, this Bowl debut is their only U.S. appearance. Also jumping across the pond for their Bowl debut is electro-pop group Ladytron.

The Los Angeles basin appears to be in a seismic “lull” characterized by relatively smaller and infrequent earthquakes, according to a study in the September issue of Geology.

Russian conductor Kirill Petrenko leads the Los Angeles Philharmonic in two performances of a program featuring Russian pianist Nikolai Lugansky in Rachmaninoff's towering Piano Concerto No. 3 on Tuesday and Thursday, August 28 and 30, at 8 p.m. at the Hollywood Bowl. Since she began her professional singing career over fifty years ago, Nancy Wilson has built an inspiring repertoire, and continues to defy categorization with her versatile and sultry singing style.

An all-star lineup of jazz greats: Dave Brubeck, the Bruce Hornsby Trio and Madeleine Peyroux, treat Hollywood Bowl audience to their masterful and diverse performances, Wednesday, August 22, at 8 p.m. American jazz singer Peyroux, whose vocal style is often compared to that of Billie Holiday, opens the concert in her Bowl debut.

At the age of 96, living legend Julius Shulman is one of the few individuals to have witnessed and documented the growth of Los Angeles during the past century. More than mere works of art or images for commercial promotion, Shulman’s captivating photographs now serve as critical visual records of this metropolis’ dramatic evolution.

Rare examples of decorative works of gold and silver, armor, carved ivories, enamels, sculpture, paintings and illuminated manuscripts from the 3rd through the 16th centuries will be on view in Medieval Treasures from the Cleveland Museum of Art at the J. Paul Getty Museum, the Getty Center, October 30, 2007 - January 20, 2008, providing an unprecedented opportunity for West Coast audiences to view these extraordinary objects outside of Cleveland.

JVC Jazz at the Hollywood Bowl continues its tradition of presenting the best of contemporary smooth jazz on Sunday, August 19, at 6 p.m. This year's artist roster includes world-renowned saxophone player Dave Koz; pianist David Benoit; vocalists Phil Perry and 19-year-old newcomer Kelly Sweet; guitarist Earl Klugh and His Little Big Band; and Summer Romance starring pianist Jim Brickman and saxophonist Michael Lington.

Accompanied by a 28-piece orchestra, featuring orchestral arrangements written by Van Dyke Parks, harpist-singer-songwriter Joanna Newsom makes her Walt Disney Concert Hall debut on Friday, November 9 at 8:00 p.m.

Lee Ritenour, one of the world's most prolific jazz guitarists, headlines an evening of first-rate jazz on Wednesday, August 15 at 8 p.m. featuring a distinguished line-up of musicians that includes Patrice Rushen, Richard Bona, Alex Acuna, and Brian Bromberg. West African jazz guitarist Lionel Loueke opens with his trio Gilfema, followed by the innovative John Scofield. This is the fifth of eight concerts that comprise the 2007 Jazz at the Bowl series.

About 2,500 international passengers were stranded for as long as five hours on planes and in terminals at Los Angeles International Airport because a computer shutdown prevented them from passing through customs, authorities said.
