Joseph Rossano's Mirrored Murrelets Opens At Museum Of Glass

On June 7, 2008, the Museum of Glass will introduce Mirrored Murrelets, a new outdoor art installation created by Arlington, WA, artist Joseph Rossano for the Museum's Mezzanine Plaza. Rossano created the glass birds for the installation in the Museum's Hot Shop during his Visiting Artist residency in January. Mirrored Murrelets will be on display through 2009 before it travels to additional venues around the country.

Tacoma Museum Presents Exhibition By Dante Marioni

Opening in conjunction with Lino Tagliapietra in Retrospect: A Modern Renaissance in Italian Glass, the Museum of Glass presents Dante Marioni: Form, Color, Pattern, a mid-career survey comprising more than twenty exceptional glass works crafted over the past two decades by Seattle artist, Dante Marioni. The exhibition was organized by Dante Marioni Studio and will open on February 16, 2008, at the Museum of Glass, the only West Coast venue on the tour.

Tacoma Museum Presents Glass Master Lino Tagliapietra’s Career

The Museum of Glass presents Lino Tagliapietra in Retrospect: A Modern Renaissance in Italian Glass, the first exhibition to look at Tagliapietra’s art and forty years of his career. Opening February 23, 2008, the exhibition is curated by Susanne K. Frantz, former curator of twentieth-century glass at The Corning Museum of Glass.

The Museum of Glass will welcome American glass master Richard Marquis along with a group of his Australian colleagues, artists Nick Mount, Clare Belfrage and Tim Edwards, for a two-week Hot Shop Visiting Artist residency November 7 – 11 and 14 – 18, 2007. For this group of artists, this residency is not just about the art; it is also about reuniting old friends.

Museum Of Glass Presents Its Fifth Anniversary Exhibition

In celebration of its Fifth Anniversary, the Museum of Glass will present Mining Glass, a new exhibition that explores how the medium of glass has gained prominence in 21st century contemporary art. Opening June 16, the exhibition will include nine large installations that will be displayed in two of the Museum's three gallery spaces.

Museum Of Glass Welcomes Maya Lin To Hot Shop

The Museum of Glass will welcome acclaimed artist and architect Maya Lin for a two-day Visiting Artist residency in the Hot Shop on March 16 and 17, 2007. During her residency, Lin will direct with the Hot Shop Team as they experiment with creating hot-sculpted clear glass "water drop" forms. These forms will be incorporated into an installation that will be included in the Museum's Fifth Anniversary exhibition, Mining Glass, which opens on June 16, 2007.

Special Appearance In Museum Of Glass Hot Shop

The Museum of Glass is pleased to host Dale Chihuly, James Mongrain and Team Chihuly for a special appearance in the Museum of Glass Hot Shop on Saturday, February 3, 2007. From 1 to 5 p.m., Team Chihuly will demonstrate the art of making Ikebana, large-scale Venetian vessels that contain one to three long-stemmed glass flowers and leaves.

Museum Of Glass Presents 2007 History Of Glass Lecture Series

The Museum of Glass is pleased to announce the return of the History of Glass, a comprehensive lecture and demonstration series chronicling the evolution of glassmaking from ancient Egypt and the Middle Ages through today's Studio Glass movement. The ten-part series begins January 14 and will continue into June. Each session starts in the Museum Theater with a one-hour lecture and slide presentation.
