This Is It, the documentary movie in which Michael Jackson prepared for a series of sold-out concerts, opens today in the United States. Rumors spread about the Michael Jackson This Is It movie being sold out, but there are still tickets available.

Reports are that the company that wants to be all things Internet to all people, Google, is nearing launch of a music service. The service, called Google Music (or some have theorized, Google Audio), would undoubtedly be a major threat even to the 800-pound gorilla in the corner of the room: iTunes.

It is probably safe to say that Carly Simon is not drinking any Starbucks coffee these days. On Friday, Simon filed a lawsuit against Starbucks for failing to properly promote her album "This Kind of Love."

Michael Jackson's song is now officially released on Michaeljackson.com. On Sunday evening about 45 seconds of the song, This Is It, was spread around the Internet. A two-disc album to be released October 26 will precede the Michael Jackson This Is It film to be released October 28.

Britney Spears has a new song out that supposedly makes its debut on September 29, 2009. The song, "3" has been showing up on the internet today without vocals -- just an instrumental version. Could be a hoax or a good marketing ploy. No one seems to know.

You might (rightly) ask who Lucy Vodden is, but you probably already know of her. Or at least, you know of her as portrayed in the Beatles tune "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds." She has died after a long battle with lupus. She was 46.

Michigan-based rock group Chiodos has "fired" its lead singer, Craig Owens. In a statement released Thursday, Chiodos members Brad Bell, Jason Hale, Pat McManaman and Matt Goddard called the decision "a necessary one."

Les Paul, famed American jazz guitarist and inventor, has died. He was 94.
