In a time when U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton goes to great length with French, Swiss and Russian mediators to bring about the reconciliation between Turkey and Armenia and when OSCE Minsk group reports positive movements on the front of Azerbaijan Armenia negotiations for Nagorno Karabakh, one influential Turkish member of the parliament calls on Azerbaijan to "fight," saying the lands were taken away by blood.

A number of media outlets report that the Permanent Mission of Azerbaijan to the United Nations organized a panel discussion on the “Situation in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan”.

Here is what is happening between Turkey and Azerbaijan in regard to Nagorno Karabakh. Azerbaijan in late 1990s started war against the civilian population of the Nagorno Karabakh Armenians, who voted to be independent from Azerbaijan due to cultural and human rights related oppression. Armenia supported the move and Turkey blockaded Turkish-Armenian border showing solidarity with Azerbaijan. The later holds Turkey hostage to relations with Armenia. Turkey says you can't do that.

France 24 correspondence Jasper Mortimer from Ankara says that it is more likely that the issue of Nagorno Karabakh, to which Turkey wants to link the signature of protocols with Armenia has caused the delay. Turkey and Armenia abruptly postponed the signature of the protocols aimed at normalizing the relations.

An exhibition of Czech photographers, devoted to Nagorno Karabakh, has been opened at the Palace of Culture and Youth in Stepanakert, the capital of Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh). The president of the Federation of Czech photographers, Garik Avanesov, himself of Karabakh (Artsakh) origin, has organized a similar exhibition, named “The Ancient World Artsakh” in Prague in March this year.

In a very positive and balanced approach to the conflict of Nagorno Karabakh Turkish writer Kadri Gursel wrote in yesterday's Milliyet advising that Azerbaijan's interest will be better served if it forgot about Nagorno Karabakh. Looking at the issue from a realistic point of view and championing peace in the region he sees no way to return Nagorno Karabakh to Azerbaijani rule. This is in the light of Turkey Armenia rapprochement.

One visit to Nagorno Karabakh is enough to understand once and for all the expression circulating among Armenians: “the surrender of lands is treason”. During my recent stay there, I have visited not only Stepanakert, the capital of Nagorno Karabakh, and the fortress-city of Shushi, but also Gandzasar, Amaras and Dadivank.

The “Golden Apricot on Wheels” project within the “Golden Apricot” International Film Festival for the second time visited Nagorno Karabakh in August 19-23 this year. The Nagorno Karabakh “Golden Apricot” opened with Sergey Parajanov’s “The Color of Pomegranate” in the House of Veterans, located in Stepanakert, the capital of Nagorno Karabakh.

It's hard to say if Azerbaijan is getting ready to take a historic position, preparing to recognize the independence of Nagorno Karabakh Republic or the opposite, but one thing is clear: after the recently Moscow meeting of the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan some positive signs from various levels are coming from Azerbaijan on compromise talk and peace with Armenia
