The National Maritime Museum (NMM) presents celebrated British artist and former Turner Prize nominee Simon Patterson as the next exhibition in the New Visions series of contemporary art commissions and exhibitions. The exhibition is Patterson’s first London museum solo exhibition and will show across the Museum’s site in the National Maritime Museum and the Royal Observatory, Greenwich.

New Visions is the contemporary art programme at the National Maritime Museum in which international artists engage and respond to the Museum's diverse collections and location. Currently on display are two exhibitions exploring the ways in which we understand our place in the world. In the Museums upper South West Wing, Lawrence Weiner: Inherent in the Rhumb Line continues until December 2007.

The National Maritime Museum opens Atlantic Worlds, a new permanent gallery on 30 November 2007. The gallery explores the interrelationship, connections and exchanges created between Britain, Africa and the Americas between 1600-1850 and looks at the impact and legacy of empire on three continents.

National Maritime Museum Greenwich opens a stylish new exhibition entitled Sailor Chic which brings together material from the trend’s early beginnings as a fashion essential for affluent Victorian children to present day catwalk couture.
