KU wins the national championship game! After defeating Memphis 75-68 in overtime, the Jayhawks clinch the fifth national championship in school history and the first since 1988. The Kansas Jayhawks won the 2008 NCAA Championship beating out Memphis 75-68. I was actually rooting for Kansas, but it would have been something if either team had won. Kansas almost lost it during regulation, but managed to tie it up at the end, which led to overtime and them winning.

The Memphis Tigers will battle the Kansas Jayhawks for the NCAA National Championship in San Antonio, Texas on Monday. The championship game begins at 9:21pm EST on CBS.

Stephen Curry carried Davidson College through the first weekend with back to back performances for the annals, dropping 40 on Gonzaga then carrying Davidson College Wildcats back from a 17-point deficit with 25 second half points to beat Georgetown. A one-man show, matched against one of the top defensive teams in the nation, surely Wisconsin would find a way to slow down Curry and end the Wildcats run.

A 74-70 win over Georgtown takes Davidson to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen. The 'Cat's will face Wisconsin on Friday, March 28 in Detroit at 7:10 pm (EST).

Privately, some Siena College players wondered in recent days if their counterparts on the Vanderbilt roster knew any of their names.

The Retrievers will take on the Georgetown Hoyas on Friday, March 21, in Raleigh, North Carolina in the first round of the NCAA tournament. The game will be broadcast on CBS and will begin 30 minutes after the Gonzaga-Davidson contest, which starts at 12:25 p.m.

The number 10 seed in the Midwest Region Davidson (27-6) defeated number 7 seeded Gonzaga 82 to 76. Gonzaga has gone from being a Cinderella team in past NCAA Tournaments to being a power in Division I basketball to now being the conquest of a new Cinderella team the Davidson Wildcats. Davidson got into the NCAA Tournament by winning the Southern Conference Tournament.

NC Davidson pulled off an early upset Friday by defeating Gonzaga 82-76 in Raleigh, NC on NCAA Tournament. Davidson was led by sophomore Stephen Curry’s 40 points.

American University will play its first-ever NCAA Division I Tournament game as the 15 seed in the East. The Eagles will play against the second seeded Volunteers of Tennessee in the field of 65 on Friday, March 21 in Birmingham, Ala. at 11:15 a.m. CST; 12:15 p.m. EST.

On the heels of its historic third consecutive A-Sun Conference Tournament Championship, Belmont Basketball faced tradition-rich Duke in the first round of the 2008 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament in Washington, D.C. with a near upset against the Blue Devils with a final score of 71-70.
