The New York Yankees won the World Series 2009 Wednesday night with a 7 to 3 win over the Philadelphia Phillies. New York City will be buzzing with Yankees fans Friday morning when the winners of the World Series parade through the streets of NYC to honor New York Yankees, who won their 27th World Series title on Wednesday night.

The cost of living in the New York City was one of the main topics during the latest mayoral debate between the current NYC mayor Michael Bloomberg and Comptroller William C. Thompson Jr. This is their second and last mayoral debate before the elections. It took place in the studios of WABC-TV.

It's known as the "gun show loophole." Federal law requires criminal background checks only for guns sold through licensed firearm dealers. The "loophole" allows individuals "not engaged in the business” of selling firearms to sell guns without background checks.

According to Fox News the government of Libya has rented a property in New York from Donald Trump to pitch a tent for its president Muammar Qaddafi, where he will stay and entertain guests during his visit to United Nations conference. Apparently Donald Trump did not know about it.

Every U.S. president since Herbert Hoover has either stayed in or lived at the Waldorf's towers and President Obama became the latest President to stay in the beautiful four bedroom suite in New York City. The $7,000 per night suite is truly a piece of history with so many of the nation's Presidents staying there.

Hudson river in New York City today witnessed another air crash. In the vicinity of the 14th street Helicopter collided with a small plane over the Hudson River. NYPD says A Liberty Tours helicopter crashed into a plane. A rescue operation in the Hudson River is under way.

This morning NY1 published the listed of the post offices that are proposed to close in New York City area, including in Bronx, Queens, Staten Island, Brooklin and Manhattan.

LaGuardia Airport is back in operation after an early Saturday morning bomb scare. Scott McGann, 32, is in custody over the incident.

In June, 2008, when New York City was celebrating another record year for tourism into the City, Mayor Michael Bloomberg was quoted in the New York Sun, "We don’t want to have more taxes that would hurt the economic well-being of this city. For example, a tax on tourists is a terrible idea. We desperately need tourists from around the world. … Killing the golden goose is not a smart thing to do."

In an interview before his inauguration, Barack Obama said he and his wife liked having "date nights," usually on Fridays. Even as President, the first couple are continuing that practice, as well they should, as being the U.S. president is the most pressure-packed job in the world.

NYC today starts its annual Fleet Week 2009 event. Fleet week today includes a low elevation military flyover up the Hudson River, north from the Verrazano Bridge.
