The ING New York City Marathon is not the most famous: arguably the Boston Marathon holds that "title." But it's still huge, drawing more than two million spectators, over 38,000 runners, 120 live bands and assorted oddball acts. It's the NYC Marathon 2008.

Sunday, November 2nd of 2008, marks the running of the 38th annual NYC Marathon, the route of which will take runners from their Fort Wadsworth staging area in Staten Island, across the Verrazano Bridge, and into the open embrace of Bay Ridge - as runners enter the first leg of the 26.2 mile race. Katie Holmes competed in the New York City marathon on Sunday. Her husband Tom Cruise was there to cheer her on and said she had been training for three months. Cruise said Holmes was “very inspired.”
