In 2003 the Baltimore Ravens selected stud defender Terrell Suggs from the Arizona Sun Devils as their top pick in the draft. Since that time Suggs has managed an impressive 8.83 sacks per year as the Ravens have been one of the best defenses in football, for the last decade.

Throughout the history of the Philadelphia Eagles, we have all witnessed the likes of Chuck Bednarick, Reggie White, Harold Carmichael, and many more. All of these guys have given us, the fans, the entertainment we all seek on Sundays.

The Philadelphia Eagles have treated their fans very well this decade. They've been competitive in nearly each of every season, made five appearances in the NFC Championship Game, and even made a trip to the Superbowl. And although we haven't yet hoisted the Lombardi Trophy, or attended the victory parade on Broad Street, the Philadelphia Eagles have given us every reason to be optimistic about our football each and every autumn.

In 2007 Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn was selected in the first round of the NFL draft by the Cleveland Browns. From that time on it has been expected that at some point Quinn would be the Browns starting quarterback.

The only thing going on in the football world at this time every year is Brett Favre deciding whether or not to play the game again.

Because the Eagles don't need a QB, and because the Eagle faithful could care less about the never-ending Brett Favre "drama", we usually have little to talk about.

This week the NFL suspended the New York Jets top pass rusher Calvin Pace. The reason for the four game suspension is because Pace violated the leagues substance abuse policy. One has to wonder just how the Jets defense will hold up without Calvin on the field.

Tommy Lawlor knows football. When his preschool classmates were learning their ABC's, he was studying his X's and O's. When they were watching Bambi at home, he was tuning into the Eagles vs. Cowboys. And when his peers looked up to Scooby Doo as a role model, he looked up to Ron Jaworski. I could go on and on forever, but you get my point.

The city of Philadelphia has been built on the toughness of their residents, and throughout the history of the Philadelphia Eagles, toughness was never questioned among their players.

Defensive end Paul Kruger has had some football experiences that he will never forget. Such fond memories include being named a Freshman All-American at Utah, as well as being selected by the Baltimore Ravens as the 57th overall player in the 2nd round of the 2009 NFL Draft.

However, the 2nd round draft selection does have a few football related remembrances in which he truly never wants to re-live again.

On November 29th, 2008, New York Giants star receiver Plaxico Burress shot himself in a nightclub. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has held a hard line stance for disciplining trouble players in recent years.

The Raiders had the 7th overall pick in the 2009 NFL draft and many thought when Michael Crabtree was available, Oakland would select him. Instead they threw the football world a curve ball and selected wide receiver Darrious Heyward-Bey.
