On the eve of its 60th anniversary, The North Carolina Museum of Art (NCMA)-the first major American art museum collection to be formed by state legislation and appropriation-today unveiled the much-anticipated design for an ambitious expansion initiative, including construction of a new 127,000 square foot building to house the institution's outstanding permanent collection of more than 5,000 objects spanning antiquity to the present day.
