NYC.gov Gives Away 500 NY Yankee Parade Tickets

The New York Yankees will celebrate with the public on Friday, November 7 at 11am and the NYC.gov site gave away 500 tickets to some very lucky fans. Mayor Michael Bloomberg will present keys to the city to the Yankees at the ceremony, which begins Friday at 1 p.m. after the ticker-tape parade.

The ING New York City Marathon 2009 starts at 8:20am in Central Park. In order to alleviate congestion there will be three wave starts at the NYC Marathon 2009. Instead of releasing close to 42,000 marathon runners at the same time, each wave will release approximately 14,000 marathon runners in 20-minute increments.

Mumps Outbreak in Brooklyn New York

New York City's Health and Mental Hygiene Department is warning doctors about a mumps outbreak in Brooklyn that started back in August. The outbreak began among children from Borough Park who attended summer camp in Upstate New York. So far, 57 confirmed or probable cases have been identified. Cases of mumps have continued to occur in Borough Park since the start of the school year.
