The fourth annual and now international EarthDance Environmental Film Festival plays at the Oakland Museum of California the weekend of April 14 & 15 with a program packed with entertaining ways to celebrate the natural world.

The sheer majesty of Yosemite has inspired painters and photographers for ages. The power of art to shape how the national park has been viewed, used, and protected is vividly captured in Yosemite: Art of an American Icon, at the Oakland Museum of California May 19-August 26, 2007.

The first retrospective of American artist William Hunter, Transforming Vision: The Wood Sculpture of William Hunter, 1970-2005, opens at the Oakland Museum of California January 20, and continues through March 18, 2007. Organized by the Long Beach Museum of Art and curated by Kevin Wallace, the exhibition begins its national tour in Oakland.

Late this evening, the first passengers will arrive at gates 29-32 in the new Terminal 2 concourse at Oakland International Airport (OAK).Welcoming them will be the first major public art installation under the Port of Oakland's landmark public art policy.

The Oakland Museum of California hosts a seven-part series previewing documentary films from Independent Television Service (ITVS) prior to their national PBS broadcast on Independent Lens. The series begins with The World According to Sesame Street, on Tuesday, October 10, 2006, 6:30 p.m.

The legendary White Elephant Sale, benefiting the Oakland Museum of California, is set for Saturday, March 3 (9-4) and Sunday, March 4 (11- 4 p.m.). Thousands are expected at this blockbuster event, a destination point for savvy shoppers from the Bay Area and beyond. Admission is free.
