A rare work of art by Canadian artist, David Milne (1882-1953), has been added to the National Gallery of Canada's collection, with the support of the Andrea and Charles Bronfman Canadian Art Fund. The National Gallery and its Foundation are pleased to invite the public to see Milne's masterly work, Alcove (1914), presently on view in the Canadian art galleries of the National Gallery of Canada.

After disappearing from Ontario due to over hunting in the 19th century, wild elk have returned to the province thanks to the efforts of the Ontario elk restoration program. According to a report on the program's success, published in the March issue of Restoration Ecology, 460 elk were brought from Alberta and released in various Ontario sites between 1998 and 2001.

Theatre Ontario is pleased to award the 2006 Sandra Tulloch Award for Innovation in the Arts to Peter Honeywell, Executive Director of the Council for the Arts in Ottawa. The award was presented to Peter on February 12 at the 18th Annual Sweetheart for the Arts luncheon at the National Gallery of Canada. The presentation will be made by Angela Rebeiro, Publisher of Playwrights Canada Press and John Goddard, Executive Director of Theatre Ontario.

The National Gallery of Canada presents Renoir Landscapes, 1865-1883, from 8 June to 9 September 2007. This is the first major exhibition of the artist's landscape paintings, and the National Gallery is its only Canadian stop.
