Santa Fe Opera Presents One-Hour Opera

The Santa Fe Opera will present the American professional premiere of Nina Rota's comedy, The Timid Twosome, as this summer's one-hour opera. The popular "one-hour opera," which began in 2006 with Berlioz's Dr. Miracle and continued with Donizetti's The Night Bell in 2007, has become an anticipated Santa Fe tradition. These high-quality presentations continue this spring with the fully staged production of The Timid Twosome to be presented at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center from May 31- June 14.

Opera Colorado, Colorado Orchestra To Partner With Naxos

Boston Opera Presents ABDUCTION FROM SERAGLIO

The 2007-2008 Season concludes this spring with Mozart's The Abduction from the Seraglio, sung in English. Two lovely young women are held hostage on the Orient Express and suffer greatly from the advances of their Turkish captors. A carefully planned rescue by their fiances goes awry, but the Pasha frees them in a surprising gesture of mercy.

Seattle Opera Celebrates Young Artists Program

Seattle Opera will celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Young Artists Program at their 2008 Gala "Springtime Serenade" on April 26 at McCaw Hall. An all-star lineup of former Young Artists will perform, including 2006 Richard Tucker award-winner Lawrence Brownlee and 2007 Richard Tucker award-winner Brandon Jovanovich.

Opera Atelier Features Works By Mozart, Monteverdi

Opera Atelier announced the details of its 2008/09 season featuring two operatic masterpieces by Monteverdi and Mozart. The season begins in November with a new production of Mozart's The Abduction from the Seraglio which tells of the adorable antics of the Spanish nobleman Belmonte and his servant Pedrillo as they plot to rescue their girlfriends from the harem of Pasha Selim.

Glimmerglass Opera To Benefit Young Artists Program

Glimmerglass Opera will hold its annual New York City Spring Gala on Tuesday, April 15, at 6:30 p.m. at The Metropolitan Club, 1 East 60th Street. The centerpiece of the evening will be a satirical theatrical revue linked to Glimmerglass Opera's Shakespeare-inspired summer season, featuring musical selections by Stephen Sondheim, Cole Porter and Frank Loesser. Santa Fe Opera Announces 2008 Spring Tour

The Santa Fe Opera's Apprentice program takes its show on the road with performances in 15 communities throughout New Mexico, Colorado and Texas on its annual Spring Opera Tour. Beginning April 4 in Las Vegas and ending in El Paso on May 15, two up-and–coming singers will offer public concerts as well as daytime performances for students in tour cities. The concerts are free and everyone is welcome.

Santa Fe Opera To Perform Music Of Kaija Saariaho

For the fifth season, The Santa Fe Opera, in collaboration with Santa Fe New Music, is presenting an evening of chamber music by the living composer whose opera is being performed in the summer season. This year it is the esteemed Finnish composer, Kaija Saariaho. Ms. Saariaho's opera, Adriana Mater will receive its American premiere beginning July 26. The concert takes place Saturday, April 19 at 7:00 in The Santa Fe Opera's Stieren Hall.
