Frida Kahlo centennial exhibition at Walker Art Center goes beyond the myth to provide an intimate look at the artist's hauntingly beautiful paintings. Touring show includes 90 photographs from Kahlo's personal albums.

Fitzwilliam Museum has acquired Sir William Nicholson's (1872 - 1949) Begonias painting. Nicholson was an exceptionally gifted painter of still-life. >From his earliest years as a painter he developed an innate ability to combine simple - sometimes even mundane - objects and forms to create immensely satisfying compositions which were at once studies in light, texture and the physicality of paint.

British police arrested four men overnight after recovering a lost Leonardo Da Vinci painting worth more than 15 million pounds ($34 million) in the Glasgow area of Scotland.

Art Gallery of New South Wales announced the purchase of David Hockney's A closer winter tunnel, 2006. The painting, consisting of six canvas panels, is now on public display at the Gallery.

The Saint Louis Art Museum has purchased The Milliners (Les Modistes), an important painting by the French artist Edgar Degas. Painted in about 1898 as part of a series the artist launched at the height of Impressionism, the work bridges the 19th and 20th centuries.

A landscape painting by Fred Williams has sold at auction for a record $1.86 million. Auction house Deutscher-Menzies says Williams's Landscape with Water Ponds showcases the consummate skill of the artist.

Driven by a fascination with systems of perception, space, colour, light, representation and abstraction, Robert Youds has explored a multitude of forms of practice throughout his career, which predominately revolves around discourses on painting, sculpture, and perception. The show will present works from the past 10 years of Youds' production, and include a new site-specific installation, drawing on the explorations of Youds' recent light works.
