At the University of Michigan, a multidisciplinary team of researchers is investigating whether tissue optical spectroscopy can be employed for early cancer detection in the pancreas during minimally-invasive endoscopic diagnostic procedures.

Investigators have developed antibodies that recognize pancreatic cancer. The antibodies were developed through a technique of injecting normal pancreas cells into mice.

Studies have shown that the best opportunity for long-term survival in patients with pancreatic cancer (PC) is with surgical removal of the tumor during pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD).
