An exhibition of photography will be opening at Dance Base, Scotland's National Centre for Dance. Photographer and Community Artist, Sandra George has been taking photographs of the participants in the Dance Base Outreach Programme since April 2007 and will be showcasing her work to 23 February 2008.

This major exhibition of photography and video work will introduce emerging and established Colombian talent rarely seen in the UK. A diverse group of six artists are united in their desire to reconcile Colombia’s past and ongoing conflicts. They explore notions of memory, repetition, and performance to understand acts of violence and experiences of trauma and loss.

The first exhibition to explore photographs made from paper negatives—calotypes—in Great Britain in the 1840s and 1850s, Impressed by Light: British Photographs from Paper Negatives, 1840–1860, will be on view from February 3 through May 4, 2008, in the West Building photography galleries. The exhibition features 120 calotypes, many of which have never before been exhibited or published in the United States, made by about forty artists.

To mark the National Portrait Gallery's recent acquisition of a selection of photographs by Walter Hanlon, this display brings together his atmospheric portraits of the jazz scene in London in the 1950s.

Liverpool's fascinating emergence as a modern city is on display in Metropolis: Capturing Modern Liverpool at the National Conservation Centre from 21 March to 10 August 2008.

The photography department of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, is mounting four exhibitions that will be on view during Houston´s biennial photography celebration, FotoFest 2008, running March 7 through April 20, 2008. Exhibitions of work by the American photographer and photo historian Beaumont Newhall (1908-1993) and the German-born English photographer Bill Brandt (1904-1983) are drawn from the museum´s own extensive photography collection.

“In Plane View,” an exhibition of 56 large-format photographs by Carolyn Russo showcasing the aesthetic quality of some of the National Air and Space Museum’s iconic aircraft, will be on display March 21, 2008 through Jan. 2, 2009.

A photograph of Emma Holt, the final resident of Sudley House, is to go on display at the south Liverpool attraction.

Lee Miller (1907-1977) was one of the most original and ambitious photographers of the 20th century. She performed with unique success on both sides of the camera, starting her career as a fashion model in New York, working as a studio assistant to Man Ray in Paris, independently creating haunting, surrealist-inspired images as well as portraiture, and serving as a war correspondent during World War II.

But from the inner solar system to its outer reaches, the closer and more detailed views of Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and the other planets that have been achieved during the Space Age show unparalleled beauty and visions difficult to fathom.

Framing a Century: Master Photographers, 1840-1940 tells the story of photography's first 100 years through the work of 13 key figures who helped shape the aesthetic and expressive course of the medium: Gustave Le Gray, Roger Fenton, Carleton Watkins, William Henry Fox Talbot, Julia Margaret Cameron, Nadar, Edouard Baldus, Charles Marville, Eugène Atget, Walker Evans, Man Ray, Henri Cartier-Bresson, and Brassaï.

Alexander Rodchenko (1891-1956) is one of the great figures of early 20th-century avant-garde art, and also one of its most versatile practitioners. Half a century after his death, The Hayward presents the first major exhibition in the UK of Rodchenko's photographs, featuring some 120 prints and photomontages, as well as poster and magazine designs.
