When the Nigerian poet Orikinla Osinachi wrote the "Veiled Assassin", he never knew that his fictional story was actually similar to how the male suspect in the major anti-terrorist investigation in London also escaped capture disguising himself as a Muslim woman dressed in a burqa. Was is it a coincidence or a prophetic foresight?

Following in the footsteps of the highly successful Poetry Slam @ The Max series, presented by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and sponsored by Starbucks Coffee, the DSO has announced a special Youth Poetry Slam @ The Max. The one-night-only event will be held on Thursday, February 22 at 8 p.m. in Allesee Hall at the Max M. Fisher Music Center. Also sponsored by Starbucks Coffee, the Youth Poetry Slam is open to teens ages 13 to 18.

The next Poetry Slam @ The Max will "up the ante" when the 2006 Individual World Poetry Slam Champion Mike McGee performs Thursday, January 11 at 8 p.m. Also a 2003 Indie National Poetry Slam Champion and the 2003 West Coast Slam Champion, McGee has appeared on Def Poetry Jam's 2005 season.
